St. Catharines Ladies Softball League Invitational Tournament

Tournament Rules

 

  1. All teams must be affiliated with P.W.S.A., O.R.S.A., A.S.A. P.W.S.A. and Softball Canada rules will apply including the P.W.S.A. mercy rule 7 runs after 5 innings in Midget & Open.  Helmets are compulsory, each team to carry five (5).
  2. Each team may register 17 players. Players may play for one team only. Pickups are allowed with written permission form their coach/manager, and shall be indicated on the team roster as a pickup. Roster shall include name, uniform number and date of birth for each player plus staff names and numbers. Proof of age must be available if requested. Only players on the roster may play. Ineligible players shall result in disqualification of the team from the tournament.
  3. Teams from outside the Province or country must provide a valid travel permit issued by the Sport Governing body.
  4. Teams shall be ready to play at least 15 minutes prior to game time. Unless teams are traveling to or from McCaffrey Park. Coin toss will decide home team.
  5. No infield practice in fair territory. No practice in the playing territory while grounds crew is on the diamond.
  6. In all divisions (except the Open division), all players on the roster shall be in the batting line up and there will be unlimited defensive substitutions in all except the Open division.
  7. No inning will start after 1 hour 15 minutes in all round robin games. Tied games will result in each team receiving 1 point. Playoff round will go to the tie-breaker after 1 hour and 15 minutes or 7 innings, whichever comes first. Timekeeping will be the responsibility of the scorekeeper and/or umpire as may be agreed. Home team will supply official scorekeeper.
  8. All GOLD medal games will be 7 innings with no time limit (P.W.S.A mercy rule in effect). Extra inning will be played with the tie-breaker rule in effect beginning with the 8th inning.
  9. No protests will be allowed. Decision of the officials will be final. Winning team is responsible for reporting the final score to the St. Catharines representative at the field.
  10. The Open division will receive travel expense money for first and second place finishers. All other divisions will receive gold & silver and bronze medals.
  11. Unless division rules to the contrary, ties in standings will be broken as follows until a tie is broken:

                                                                              a) Head to head results

b) Most wins

c) Plus / Minus.  Maximum of plus or minus 7 per game

d) Total number of runs scored

e) Tie breaker game played (3 innings)
